Early Years
In 1987, Lindsey Abudei was born in the municipality of Jos. She is an indigenous Igbo woman from Delta State. Her parents had a passion for music.
Education
Both her West African School Certificate and First School Leaving Certificate were acquired in Jos.
She graduated with a degree in law from the University of Jos. Despite this, she decided to pursue a career in music, as it had always been her calling.
Lindsey Abudei began her professional life as an undergraduate, recording music with MI Abaga, Jesse Jagz, and Ruby Gyang. This occurred in 2004.
In 2010, she participated in the Project Fame West Africa third season auditions. Despite withdrawing from the competition during its initial phases, she had effectively cultivated a devoted following.
She subsequently became a member of the jazz band The Jazzcats, but her tenure with them was minimal.
She released her debut EP, Brown: The EP, an eight-track collection, in 2013. The EP has IBK, Jesse Jagz, and Atta Lenell credited as producers.
She commenced the recording of her debut album, And The Bass Is Queen, in 2014. In 2015, she directed the music video for Out the Magazine, one of the album’s compositions. Director of the video: Kemi Adetiba.
In 2017, Lindsey was granted a music residency in New York. She was consequently awarded the esteemed Art OMI Music Fellow designation.
