Eleanor Vaal Nansibo Nabwiso is an actress, producer, director, scriptwriter, and television personality from Uganda by the name of Eleanor Nabwiso.

Director of Beneath the Lies – The Series, The Hostel, Sanyu (2021), Rain (2016), and Bed of Thorns (2019) are her most recognizable works.

She and her spouse, Mathew Nabwiso, established Nabwiso Films, a production company, in 2015. Critics praised the production company’s “Bed of Thorns” and “Rain,” two of the company’s well-known films, for their authenticity and artistic merit.

Husband Eleanor Nabwiso was born at Sir Albert Cook Mengo Hospital in Kampala, Uganda, on February 24, 1989, to Jane Frances Nakamya and the retired politician Rev. Dr. Kefa Sempangi.

Nabwiso is the third of five children in his family. In addition to establishing the Presbyterian Church in Uganda, her father played a pivotal role in The Africa Foundation’s 1971 initiative to assist stray children in Uganda.Namagunga Girls’ Primary School was where Nabwiso completed her primary education.

Subsequently, she registered at Seeta High School Mukono in order to finish her O and A Levels. After completing her undergraduate studies at Sikkim Manipal University, she became a bachelor of science in information technology.

Matthew Nabwiso, an actor and performer, is the spouse of Eleanor Nabwiso. They encountered during production of the popular drama series The Hostel in 2010, in which they both appeared.

On October 20, 2013, she exchanged sacred matrimonial vows with Matthew in a secluded ceremony held in Kampala. Eleanor Nabwiso is the spouse of Nabwiso, and the pair has four children.

As a teenager, Eleanor Nabwiso launched her career in film production and performance. During her Senior Six vacation, she was selected to host the WBS TV weekend program K-Files.

She starred in The Hostel, a Ugandan drama series created by Sabiiti “MMC” Moses and Emanuel “BUUBA” Egwel that depicts the life of university students in their dormitories. In Uganda, the program’s viral success propelled her to prominence as one of the most beautiful actresses on the cast.

In the pan-African television drama series Kyaddala, which was produced by Emmanuel Ikubese for Emmanuel Ikubese Films and Reach a Hand Uganda, she portrayed Bursar.

In addition to portraying Jackie Mpanga on the television series #Family (Hashtag Family), she appeared in the Ugandan television mystery series Beneath The Lies, which was created by Nana Kagga.

Additionally, she portrayed Lynnet in Watch Over Me and Nancy in Macpherson.

A juror for the 2021 Dona I Cinema International Film Festival was Eleanor Nabwiso. In addition, she oversaw the 2019 American Film Showcase Workshop and served as the Coordinator for the 2019 Euro East Africa Film Festival Programme and Events Workshop.

Numerous accolades have been bestowed upon actress, film producer, and director Eleanor Nabwiso.

Numerous theatrical productions, short films, feature films, television programs, documentaries, and infomercials have featured her.

Nabwiso’s film ‘Bed of Thorns’ was designated Best Women’s Rights Film at the London ArtHouse Film Festival in 2019 and won Best Script/Screenplay at the Uganda Film Festival, among other accolades.

She won Best Actress at the Festicab International Film Festival for her performance in Rain, Best Producer at the Pearl of Africa International Film Festival for Best Feature Film, and Best Film in Africa and the Middle East at the Nuren Film Festival all in 2017.

She has received nominations for several additional awards as well. Her prior work includes the television series Sanyu (2021), Heartbeat (2020), Prickly Roses (2020), Speak Up (2019), Live Your Dream (2018), and Hashtag Family (2017).

Nabwiso is a philanthropist and outspoken activist. Her advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality is unwavering, and she has effectively utilized her influence to bring attention to issues such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and the necessity of providing girls with an education.

In 2018, she initiated the “Girls in Film” initiative, which sought to empower young women in the film industry by providing them with mentoring, training, and networking prospects.
