President Tinubu approves ₦70K for workers as minimum wage. On Thursday, July 18, 2024, this news was made public by Bayo Onanuga, who is the president’s Special Adviser for Information and Strategy.
He told the leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) about these choices in Abuja.

“President Bola Tinubu has approved ₦70,000 minimum wage for Nigerian workers and promised to review the national minimum wage law every three years.”
In addition, President Tinubu promised to look into ways to help local and private governments pay the minimum wage.
This was the second time in seven days that the president and labor leaders got together in Abuja. Onanuga said that the labor leaders praised the president for acting like a father.
Tinubu also said he would use his discretionary powers to meet the requests of university unions who want their unpaid salaries for four months to be paid.
