Kanayo O Kanayo fumes over ‘money rituals’ ban in Nollywood. The veteran Nollywood actor, is one of many well-known people in Nigeria’s movie business who are strongly against the government’s new rules on how rituals and other topics can be portrayed in movies, music videos, and skits.
This happened after Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, signed the NFVCB Act 2004’s section 65, which says that money rituals, ritual killings, tobacco, tobacco products, nicotine product promotion, and glamorization of these things can’t be shown in movies, music videos, or skits.

As a response, Kanayo called the policy “arrant nonsense” and questioned why Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa supported putting such limits on directors.
In his words, “Arrant nonsense. This minister has no work, just like lair Mohammed.”
Mike Okri, an experienced musician, also said he didn’t trust the government’s motives and thought the ban might be an attempt to hurt the movie business.
