In contrast to rumors that she was ill, the late Nollywood actress Jumoke Aderounmu, who portrayed Esther in “Jenifa’s Diary,” is said to have passed away peacefully in her slumber.
This was disclosed by her younger sibling Adeola in an interview with Punch, where he stated that Jumoke intended to relocate to the United Kingdom prior to her death.
Jumoke Aderounmu, pronounced He explained that the scarcity of film roles in Nigeria prompted her to consider relocating.
In response to the public censure of filmmaker and Nollywood actress Funke Akindele for failing to assist her in her time of need, Adeola stated unequivocally that he is not in possession of Funke’s contact information.

Instead, Jumoke initiated communication via Paschaline Alex, an additional actress. According to his words:
“I did not reach out to her (Funke), because I don’t have her phone number, and I am not close to her. But, my sister had her number, and even sent another actress, Paschaline Alex to her, all to no avail.
“She (Funke) stopped calling her for jobs. Jumoke tried to know why, because she wanted to retrace her steps if she had committed any offence.
“She was an introvert, and usually kept to herself. She was actually not sick. She just died in her sleep.”
