“Yes, they have started paying. Even though I’m yet to receive mine, some of our lecturers have received two months’ payments out of the outstanding eight months’ withheld salary,” Eze said.
Sunday, according to another lecturer, the federal government began making payments.
He confirmed that of the eight months owed to him, two months’ worth of salaries have been paid.
It is worth noting that President Bola Tinubu Tinubu authorized the discharge of four of the eight months’ worth of ASUU withheld wages from the workers in October 2023.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari had imposed a “No Work, No Pay” policy on ASUU in 2022 in retaliation for the union’s eight-month strike.
