Usher defeated the self-proclaimed “African Giant” in the Outstanding Male Artist of the Year category. The award for Outstanding International Song was won by his compatriot Tems, not his composition ‘City Boys’. His entry was ‘Me & U.’
In addition to losing the Outstanding Hip-hop/Rap Song category to Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Cobra,’ Burna Boy’s ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage also failed to secure the award for Best Duo/Group Collaboration (Contemporary) to Chris Brown’s ‘Sensational’ featuring Davido and Lojay.
The ‘Jaguar II’ by Victoria Monét won the Outstanding Album of the Year award, surpassing his album ‘I Told Them…’.
Burna Boy was unsuccessful in securing seven BET Hip-hop Award nominations in 2023, four Grammy Award nominations in 2024, and one Brit Award nomination in 2024.
‘Sensational’ by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, which had already won the award for Best Duo/Group Collaboration (Contemporary) on the first night, won the award for Outstanding Visual Album/Song.
