Nigerian singer Tems made headlines for reasons unrelated to her music. Rumors circulated that Tems was carrying rapper Future’s child after some of her videos and pictures surfaced online and showed her sporting an oversized coat and a swollen stomach.
The rumor began almost as fast as it occurred, and it immediately gained momentum.
Online users were certain that the singer was expecting, and there were a ton of different opinions on the subject. In a recent interview with Angie Martinez, Tems at last discusses the entire pregnant experience, her mother’s reaction, and other topics. Tems stated as follows.
In response to inquiries regarding whether or not she is pregnant, Tems stated:
TEMS: After we left the building after my interview, TMZ was there, and it seemed like there were individuals there who began to question me.

“Oh, did you feel any way that they said that you were pregnant?” they said. And all I could say was, “Uh, I dunno.” I am the type of person who always has a smile on my face when anything feels awkward. Things like that, I just think are humorous. Such as, am I being tricked?
She was then questioned, “Why did people think you were pregnant?” by the interviewer. In response, she said:
TEMS: I’m not sure. I attended to a fashion show, and I believe that while I was holding my coat and possibly forgetting to tuck my belly in, my top was tucked in to my leather pants.
Perhaps for an instant, I failed to contain myself. We were eating so much that day that it was a food baby, so I believe there was only a two-second film. Well, that’s what I deduced. I didn’t realize what was going on until about two days after I saw the first clip, at which point I thought, “This is still not enough.” And the reason for it was that I got messages from my mom and cousins saying, “Oh, this is definitely a lie.” I wonder what’s happening. What is taking place? This is what? After that, I went online and saw pregnant people who were pregnant. What was going on? What is happening? Where did you get it? I thought, “nah, you guys are kidding!”
