Youths from Benin have protested against well-known transvestite Bobrisky by taking to the streets. They said that the socialite’s presence in the state is undesirable due to his purported insults against the Oba of Benin. The celebrity caused a lot of controversy and indignation the previous year when he joked in a video that the Oba of Benin should come and marry him. Many young people in Benin view this as an affront to their culture and have labeled him as persona non grata.
Many young people took to the streets to demonstrate against the crossdresser’s planned return to the state for an event, as word spread about it. They were observed carrying signs that read, among other things, “He is a bad influence; We don’t want him in our state,” expressing their anger.
