It is no secret that the majority of Nigerian celebrity performers are reluctant to speak with Nigerian media, particularly print media, and Davido might have unintentionally revealed the main cause of this.
After the music star’s fallout over accusations of breach of contract from former NFF President Amaju Pinnick, VANGUARD called the star to get his side of the story about why he failed to show up despite having completed all necessary due diligence and received his performance fee in advance.
What happened was that, rather than offering his case, he angrily declared that the Nigerian media was only interested in negative things about him.
“What did you do with the money I gave to the Nigerian orphanages? The only news that interests you is anything bad about me. He sidestepped the topic at hand and continued, “You can go ahead and write anything you want about me.”
Regardless of whether Davido’s outburst was a tactic to retract the breach of contract complaint, he is not quite accurate when he claims that his good deeds were not sufficiently covered by the Nigerian media, as his donation to the orphanage was duly recorded. It was covered by almost every newspaper, including this one.

Recall that in 2021, Davido published a list of the 292 orphans that benefited from his N250 million donation. In November 2021, Davido celebrated his birthday by sending a video message to his friends and colleagues in the entertainment world, requesting money be paid to him. He gave a personal donation of 50 million naira on top of the 200 million naira that was received.

Potpourri still extends its congratulations to the singer and her spouse, Chioma, who had a pair of twins last week. OBO, congratulations!
