Joseph Aloba, the father of Mohbad, on Wednesday, told a coroner’s court that Mohbad’s wife was “cheating on him another Marlian Records signee”.
According to NAN, Joseph gave a statement at his son’s coroner’s inquiry. The inquest is being held at the Ikorodu magistrates’ court in Lagos and started on October 13.
Joseph disclosed to the magistrate, Adedayo Shotobi, that he shared eighteen years of living quarters with his son.
He claimed he was unaware of the precise residence his late son shared with Marley.
At the age of consent, Joseph’s son left the house and started helping Marley while starting his own music career, according to Joseph’s testimony.
Three days prior to Mohbad passing, Joseph claimed to have seen the deceased. The deceased’s coffin, he said, was only visible in an image.
According to him, Mohbad assured him that he would be able to handle his dispute with Marley.
Joseph testified that the deceased’s landed property was in the custody of his mother-in-law. He added that the deceased often told him about his possessions held by his wife and her family. He claimed that Mohbad’s wife put sleeping pills into his food sometimes.
According to Joseph, his daughter-in-law had been unfaithful to the deceased. “I shared 18 years together with my son, and he had no record of any terminal disease. I only took him to a chemist when he was 16 for treatment of rashes,” he said.
“I don’t trust his wife. My son told me she always put sleeping pills in his noodles and went to another room to sleep with another signee in the same house.
“Mobhad made efforts to reconcile me with his mother.” He also told the coroner that the deceased bought a car for him after reconciling with his mother.
The coroner offered Joseph his condolences for the loss of his son at the outset of the proceedings and assured him that justice will be done in this instance.
On October 4, a Yaba magistrate’s court remanded Sam Larry, Naira Marley, and Primeboy in police detention in connection with Mohbad’s killing.
