The Magistrate and Police have been sued by Nigerian artist Abdulazeez Fashola, better known by his stage name Naira Marley, and Lagos socialite Samson Eletu, well known as Sam Larry, for their arrest.
Remember how Sam Larry and Naira Marley had been placed under arrest by the police after being charged with beating the late musician Mohbad?
News of Naira and Sam Larry’s filing of a basic rights action over their prolonged detention has reached Kemi Filani.
A magistrate and the police were identified as defendants in the complaint, which was brought before the Federal High Court in Lagos. You should be aware that Lagos magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun issued an order remanding them in detention for a period of 21 days.
Currently, each of the two is requesting N20m in damages.
Many people have spoken out about the lawsuit; some agree with the plaintiffs, while others have pointed out that they are being accused of murder, which is why they are being held.
A Real Benny Tee stated, “They bullied the nigga and kept them in custody for more than 21 days, which is not constitutional, but they have every right because the law is vague.”
