Mohbad’s nurse not part of association says

According to the Lagos State Council of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, the suspect detained for injecting the late Afrobeat musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, is not a licensed nurse.

This was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by the Lagos State Council Association.

According to Vanguard, Aloba, the late singer’s father, had voiced concerns about Mohbad’s pre-death injection by an auxiliary nurse, which is still a source of controversy surrounding his passing.

“The only thing I can think of is maybe this auxiliary nurse that used to treat people, which is a very bad idea,” Aloba stated, based on what she had heard from others. I’m not sure what level the woman is at.

They claimed that they had called her to give him an injection, which is not a good idea because the shot might have any kind of negative side effects. He was wounded, although I’m not sure what kind of injuries he sustained.

In a statement, the Nurses Association offered its sympathies to the Aloba family but chastised media accounts regarding the injection by nurses, pointing out that reporting and the current inquiry into Mohbad’s death require professionalism.

“At this trying time, the family and acquaintances of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, are extended the sincere sympathies of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Lagos State Council. We are praying and thinking of them through this difficult time of his untimely death.

“We implore the pertinent authorities to spare no effort in bringing him to justice, and we wholeheartedly support the current inquiry into the events leading up to his death.

But we also have to emphasize how important professionalism is to the reporting and investigation itself. NANNM is keeping a careful eye on the event and is quite interested in it. Our first inquiries suggest that the person purportedly arrested by the police for attending to Mohbad is not a licensed nurse.

One excerpt from the statement said, “We emphasize the critical need to verify the qualifications and professional status of individuals before labeling them as healthcare professionals.”

In Nigeria, a person must finish a demanding five-year bachelor’s degree in nursing science at a university, together with an additional year of internship, in order to be recognized as a nurse. An alternative is to complete nursing education at a recognized school or college and obtain a registration and license from the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council.

We would like to make it clear that neither Nigeria’s legal system nor its healthcare system use the phrase “auxiliary nurse.” A person is either an unskilled person carrying out responsibilities outside of their area of expertise or a qualified nurse.

Additionally, we urge the media and the investigating authorities to report on this investigation with accuracy and caution. Any false depiction of nurses or the nursing profession will not be accepted. It further stated, “We demand that all media sources that falsely reported on a nurse’s arrest take prompt corrective measures to correct their reports.
