Early Years

In 1997, we saw the birth of Naija Phyna into the well-respected Otabor family. Her parents, Mr and MrsOtabor gave her the name Josephine Otabor.

She was born in the city of Lagos and spent the majority of her formative years there. She and her family were Lagos State mainland residents. 

She also spent some time in Auchi, Edo State. Phyna is a native of the South-South geopolitical region and the state of Edo.

She hails from a pious and close-knit family. Mr. and Mrs. Otabor ensured that Phyna and her siblings were raised with respect for God and morality.

As a teen, BBNaija Phyna participated in her community’s church choir and drama group. During her secondary school years, she was also an active member of the drama club.

Phyna received her primary education at a prominent private institution in her community.

She graduated from secondary school in 2013 with excellent marks on her Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).

She was denied admission to her first choice of college immediately. Therefore, BBNaija Phyna chose to enrol at the Polytechnic. 

Phyna graduated from Auchi Polytechnic, which is situated in her home state.

Career

During her undergraduate years, BBNAIJA winner Phyna realised her passion for modelling and chose to pursue a career in the modelling industry. 

She began applying for modelling jobs in the states of Edo and Lagos. She also tried out for modelling opportunities in television advertisements and commercials. 

She was fortunate to land a few of these commercial modelling jobs.

By the time she graduated from Auchi Polytechnic, Phyna had amassed an impressive portfolio of work. 

She was quickly signed by a modelling agency and began securing more well-paying contracts.

She has worked with a number of modest and prominent brands in Nigeria over the years. 

She has also developed strong working relationships with creative directors, photographers, fashion stylists, cinematographers, art directors, make-up artists, and brand managers in the Nigerian creative arena.

Additionally, Phyna is a developing content creator. Several brands have paid her to develop social media content to promote their businesses. 

As a digital creator, she has experience and knowledge of generating online engagement through content creation.

To promote her professional development in the creative field, BBNaija Phyna chose to become a reality television star. 

In May of 2022, she auditioned for a slot on Big Brother Nigeria. She was chosen as one of the 24 housemates for the seventh season of the show after getting through several audition processes.
